Road Engineer

Company Profile
The Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Organization (ALCO) has benefited from a World Bank Grant IDA No H549-TG for the implementation of the Component D of the Abidjan-Lagos Trade and Transport Facilitation Project (ALTTFP). The objective of the Project is to facilitate the movement of people and goods along the coastal corridor through the reduction of the physical and non-physical barriers, and the reduction of HIV/AIDS impact on the transport and trade communities between Abidjan and Lagos
Job Description
The Road Engineer will work within a multidisciplinary team coordinated by the Transport Specialist, and under the supervision of ALCO Executive Secretary, on the performance monitoring management system of the Abidjan-Lagos corridor, and will have to carry out the following activities:
  1. Monitoring indicators of improvement of the Abidjan-Lagos corridor road network
  2. Reporting and data dissemination
  3. Advocacy and partnership
  4. Building capacities
Duration of the Contract: This contract is two (2) years renewable with a probation period of 3 months.
Required Skills or Experience
  • Civil Works, Bridge and Road Engineer
  • Have at least 10 years of experience in road infrastructure projects especially in road maintenance and regulation
  • Excellent knowledge of ECOWAS regulations in the road transport sector
  • Excellent knowledge of International Roughness Index (IRI) and its application
  • Excellent knowledge of the transport and roads technology is required
  • Mastery of one of the ALCO official working languages (French and English)
  • A good knowledge of the other language is an advantage
  • Real capacity to share effectively with the client/recipient the knowledge and ensure efficient implementation and sustainability of the project
  • Excellent ability to communicate ideas efficiently
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to produce in the two languages is an advantage
